As you can see from the extensive list above, we have courses suitable for the complete beginner to the more experienced in a variety of disciplines.

Bridge

Three levels of courses are on offer – Beginners, Level 2 and Level 3.

Cycling

We work in partnership with the Cycling Team at the London Borough of Bromley to offer confidence building courses, to encourage you to start cycling, or take it up again after a lapse… also on offer are Bicyle Maintenance courses.

Dance

A wide variety of dance classes are available for Ballroom and Latin American Dancing. These courses are offered at various levels. You will benefit from being supported by two excellent tutors, Angela Thurgood and Roy Thurgood.

Ballroom and Latin American Dancing – Beginners: For complete beginners or those who are very ‘rusty’ and want to relearn. Lots of revision and individual help available. This will be a fun, social evening learning to dance with the added health benefits from exercise.

Ballroom and Latin American Dancing – Improvers: For those who enjoyed the beginners course and wish to progress further. You will learn new dance figures as well as practising and consolidating those learned in the earlier course.

Ballroom and Latin American Dancing – Intermediate: For those who are now at improvers level. You will increase your repertoire of steps and dances and improve your technique, revising what you learned as an improver.

Ballroom and Latin American Dancing – PreAdvanced: An extension of the intermediate course. You will revise figures and dances learned on the Intermediate course and learn new variations, paying more attention to technique and floorcraft.

 

Pilates

Improve your posture, realign your body and strengthen your core stability with flowing, controlled Pilates movements. Various levels available to suit your needs.

An introduction to Pilates: For the first three sessions you will learn how to use different muscles groups correctly before putting this into practice from the fourth session onwards to give you a flatter stomach and help you avoid or improve back pain.

Pilates – a follow-on class: Improve your posture, realign your body and strengthen your core stability with flowing, controlled Pilates movements.

Pilates Stage 2: This course is suitable for those who have attended a beginners course, eg. Pilates-an introduction course.

Pilates Stage 3: This course is suitable for those who have attended the introduction and stage 2 courses.

 

Yoga

We offer three Schools of Yoga: Iyengar Yoga, The British School of Yoga and Hatha Yoga. These courses are aimed at various levels: beginners, improvers, intermediate and open to all levels classes.

IYENGAR YOGA – taught progressively with an emphasis on detail, precision and alignment. It develops strength, balance and a feeling of wellbeing.

Beginners Yoga: Feel great, improve stamina, strength and flexibility. Learn relaxation techniques and reduce stress levels.

Iyengar Yoga for All – Short Course: This course is suitable for all ages and abilities. Work at your own level to improve your stamina, strength, flexibility and experience the full benefits of yoga. 12 wks

Iyengar Yoga for All – Long Course: This course is suitable for all ages and abilities. Work at your own level to improve your stamina, strength, flexibility and experience the full benefits of yoga. 33 wks

NEW  Gentle Iyengar Yoga: A class for anyone who feels they are a bit stiff or out of condition; this is a classic introductory IYENGAR yoga class taken at a gentle pace with careful attention to safe healthy alignment in the asanas.

Iyengar Yoga Improvers: Suitable for those who have completed at least one year of yoga. Continue improving and refining the postures while developing your knowledge and increasing your range of postures.

Iyengar Yoga Intermediate: Suitable for those who have completed at least three years of yoga. Continue improving and refining the postures while developing your knowledge and increasing your range of postures.

Yoga for the Over 50s: This course is designed for those over 50 and wishing to join a yoga class.

 

BRITISH SCHOOL OF YOGA – is a balanced Body and Breath exercise programme designed to work towards total fitness. 

An Introduction to Yoga: An introduction to yoga for complete beginners and those with some experience.

Yoga – Continue to Build on the Basics: This course is for those who have completed one year of yoga.

 

HATHA YOGA – is gentle yoga working on physical and mental strenght building postures.

NEW  Hatha Yoga: You will work gently focusing on physical and mental strength building postures. Gentle form of yoga working through the breath and with emphasis on relaxation. Holistic yogic path which includes postures (asana), purification procedures (shatkriya), gestures (mudra), breathing (pranayama) and meditation.

HEALTH SCREENING

Before you start any of our physically active courses, we will ask you to complete a ‘Health Screening’ form. This is to give you the opportunity to raise any issues or concerns about your current health with your tutor, who will ensure that you get the best from your course and be able to monitor your progress. Should you have any serious concerns about your health in relation to your ability to engage in physical activity or have not been physically active for some time, please seek the advice of your doctor before enrolling.
