IT Support Officer

Bromley Adult Education College (BAEC) is the Adult and Community Learning service for the Borough of Bromley and provides courses for adults in a wide variety of subjects, from arts and crafts to English, maths, digital skills and ESOL.

We are excited to be advertising for a full time IT Support Officer to provide high quality technical support and ensure the smooth running of IT across the college.

The post holder will work onsite across the two sites - Kentwood centre, Kingsdale Road, Penge, SE20 7PR and Poverest centre, Poverest Road, Orpington, BR5 2DQ. The successful candidate will be required to work at both venues on a rota basis.

You will be responsible for maintaining a safe and effective IT environment for staff and students as well as providing day to day technical support. BAEC uses Google Workspace and you will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of the user accounts and the platform in general. You will look after the servers, the networks and the infrastructure as a whole and work closely with the management team and the IT Technician to ensure the best possible service to all users at all times. You will also advise the management team on equipment, software and hardware issues and upgrades.

The successful candidate will demonstrate extensive relevant knowledge and skills, experience of developing and implementing innovative IT solutions within a complex environment and the ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of stakeholders. 

This is a full time post, 36 hours per week x 52 weeks (with holiday allowance). Salary range Salary £33,341-£35,185

Administrative Assistant Funding 

Part time Administrative Assistant - Funding

£22,525 - £24,705 pa FTE

27 hours per week x 52 weeks

Mon to Thurs 09:15-14:45, Friday 09:15-14:15. (There may be options to be flexible on these hours for the right candidate)

BAEC is the adult education service for the London Borough of Bromley. We offer over 600 part time, short courses for adults at the centres in Penge and Orpington. We are a fast moving service where every day at work is different.

Following some internal movement of staff, we are seeking to fill a vacancy for a part-time Administrative Assistant - Funding, based at the Kentwood Centre, Penge, in the Funding Office. The successful candidate will be a highly organised, self motivated individual who can work unsupervised as well as as part of a team to deliver the best service possible to our learners and tutors.

You should be able to demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and be able to work proactively to continually improve the processes in the team. You will have an interest in adult learning and the funding mechanisms behind the course delivery. You will be responsible for ensuring that both course and learner information is accurate and up to date on the College’s Management Information System. You will also be responsible for preparing course documentation, logging results, working with external databases and liaising with tutors and other staff to ensure the highest levels of accuracy at all times. Ideally you will have experience in an administrative role where attention to detail is essential. You will have good IT skills, including Excel and Google Workspace/Microsoft 365, and be able to multitask and prioritise your workload.

Sessional Tutors - various  vacancies

The pandemic has affected us all - help BAEC retrain and upskill local adults who have lost, or are at risk of losing their livelihood.  As a sessional tutor, you can inspire individuals and communities and have real impact on people’s life chances.

We have vacancies in the following subjects for tutors to start in Spring 2022 or September 2022.

  • ESOL - Our ESOL provision is growing, so vacancies are available daytime and evening in various settings across the Borough of Bromley.
  • IT and computing - we are especially looking for flexible individuals looking to teach a variety of short and longer courses including basic digital skills, Microsoft or Google software, community workshops and support learners with online learning.
  • Spanish - we would like to appoint an Spanish native speaker to add to our existing team. Candidates need to be able to travel within Bromley and teach at both the Kentwood and Poverest centres, as well as being available in the evening. MFL teaching experience required , although not necessarily in ACL settings.
  • Counselling and wellbeing - we need qualified and experienced professionals to join our team of tutors teaching introductory and accredited courses in counselling  (level 1 and 2 with potential to develop higher level courses) as well as community workshops.
  • English - All levels up to GCSE
  • Maths - All levels up to GCSE
  • Bookkeeping
  • Health and Care 

Salary range: £25.48 – £33.38 per hour, depending on qualification and subject/level taught

Please note – Tutors teaching in community outreach provision must be able to travel between various centres and community venues in the whole of the London Borough of Bromley.
