Bromley Adult Education College (BAEC) is the adult education service for the London Borough of Bromley and provides courses for adults in a wide variety of subjects, from arts and crafts to English, maths, digital skills and ESOL. The most recent Ofsted inspection, October 2024, finds that BAEC continues to be a GOOD provider.

The college is committed to providing an amazing student experience through the delivery of consistently high-quality education and training.

About the Head of BAEC role:

The post holds high level strategic and operational management responsibilities, including strong oversight of the day-to-day expenditure of the budget. The post holder will be responsible for the overall management and delivery of the local authority’s adult education offer, as well as review service needs to inform strategic and operational planning.

The successful candidate should have excellent knowledge of current developments relating to adult learning, including funding methodology in the adult education sector. 

We are looking for a Head of BAEC that has:

• effective management & leadership experience in a post-16 educational environment

• strong experience of budget management

• excellent experience of managing senior managers, undertaking appraisals and performance management measures

• excellent experience of managing resources well, providing value for money, efficient and effective services for BAEC’s learners

Although this post will be based at one of the service’s own sites, the post holder will be required to work flexibly in centres, community venues and other local authority sites.

Sessional Tutors – various vacancies across different curriculum areas

You can work flexibly and combine teaching at Bromley Adult Education with your own projects/work. If you are an experienced professional in your subject area, and can demonstrate sound teaching skills, we offer excellent employee benefits, ongoing support and training opportunities to develop your teaching practice. We welcome applications from suitably qualified individuals from all backgrounds.

Live Vacancies

We currently have the following live vacancies in the following areas and welcome a full application (Links below)

  • Cookery –  We are looking for a tutor to teach cooking classes at both of our centres, and in our Outreach Centres. Ideal candidates will have food safety Level 2 certification as well as a Level 3 qualification in teaching and education or be prepared to undertake this qualification within their first year of employment.
  • Digital Skills – we are especially looking for flexible individuals looking to teach a variety of short and longer courses including basic digital skills, Microsoft or Google software, community workshops and support learners with online learning.
  • Employability skills – We are looking for individuals who can support learners into employment teaching employability skills (CV writing, Job searching, Interview preparations) and also office skills
  • Spanish – we would like to appoint native speakers to add to our existing team. Candidates need to be able to travel within Bromley and teach at both the Kentwood and Poverest centres, as well as being available in the evening. MFL teaching experience required , although not necessarily in ACL settings.
  • Book-keeping – we require a book-keeping tutor capable of teaching manual and computerised book-keeping
  • Health and Social Care – We are looking for experienced staff to deliver health and social care qualifications
  • Photography – We are looking for a photography tutor to deliver digital photography
  • Pilates – We are looking for a pilates tutor to deliver pilates sessions at our Poverest Centre

Salary range: £30.26 – £39.65 per hour, depending on qualification and subject/level taught.

Please note – Tutors teaching in community outreach provision must be able to travel between various centres and community venues in the whole of the London Borough of Bromley.
