Digital Drop In for Job Seekers

The Digital Drop In sessions at both Kentwood and Poverest centres have been suspended while the centres are closed.
Meanwhile, the National Careers service continues to support people with employment and career advice. Please see below their message during the Coronavirus emergency.

National Career Service

What are we doing?

The National Careers Service in London is open and available for career support. We are working closely with key partners to ensure that the service is easily accessible to anyone in need of help and guidance.

How are we doing it?

In line with Government advice, all staff are now working from home and delivering the same quality service via the telephone. Existing partners are sharing opportunities for Londoners with us to help our customers progress and are adapting to the new way of working.

How can we help people?

Our careers advisers are here to help anyone over 19 years old (or 18 years old, not in education, employment or training) living in London. They can help with:

  • Identifying and accessing suitable online learning;
  • Improving CVs;
  • Understanding the London labour market;
  • Identifying strengths & skills;
  • Redundancy support;
  • “Next-step” career planning;
  • Preparing for interviews.

Please note that our Careers Advisers are unable to offer support relating to claiming DWP benefits e.g. Universal Credit or Jobseekers Allowance.

How are we working with our partners?

Our partners are having to find new ways of working, adapting their services and changing the nature of their delivery. Many of our partners are support organisations so we are signposting our customers to these services where appropriate and ensuring they can access the help they need. Some partners have opportunities, such as Distance Learning Courses, so we are identifying suitable customers and sending these opportunities through to them to help them progress while in isolation. Other partners are utilising our service to reduce the demand on their own provision and referring customers to us for expert careers advice and guidance.

How can someone get in contact with us?

If you would like to book a session with an adviser,  call 020 3714 8350 and a member of our Bookings team will register you and schedule an appointment at a suitable time.

It is most important during this time that you protect your health, both physical and mental, so please do ensure you are following Government and NHS guidelines.
