Stained Glass Information

Stained Glass in autumn 2020

BAEC runs Stained Glass courses for beginners, improvers and intermediates at the Kentwood centre  with our experienced tutor Nicky Calvert.

Following the Covid-19 emergency,  we have made changes to the way courses are delivered. Our students' wellbeing and safety is our prime concern and we ask that you work with us to ensure social distancing and safe working practices.

In September 2020, we are  reducing the maximum number of learners in each group to 10. We advise you to enrol early to secure your place. You can enrol with confidence, in the knowledge that, should government guidance prevent the course from taking place, you are assured of a full refund.

You will need to provide a basic tool kit that you should not share with other students. The list of minimum requirements will be emailed to you prior to the start of the course. We realise that specialist equipment is used by multiple users at times; there will be sanitising facilities in the classroom and a booking system  will be agreed to ensure minimal contact.

The Stained Glass room layout has been altered to facilitate social distancing. You will need to enter through the door to Room 5 and leave by the door in Room 6. Other procedures e.g. protective equipment to use grinders, soldering irons etc. will be agreed at the first session.

Your tutor will demonstrate techniques on his/her own project, and direct you while you work on your item. Social distance should be respected at all times, and each student must be the only person touching their work.

We are increasing the frequency of classroom cleaning, but we ask for your cooperation in making sure that your workstation and all shared equipment is wiped down after use.

To assist us in keeping classrooms clean and clutter-free, please only bring what you need and arrive promptly, but not before the start of your session.

Only bottled water in a sealed container is allowed, please keep it in your bag when not in use.

Reduced group size means that we may run additional courses later in the year. If you are interested in joining a class, but not yet ready to commit, please email and we will add your name on a waiting list, so we can contact you with further information as soon as possible. Similarly, if you wish to discuss our new procedures in more details, email us and we will forward your enquiry to the curriculum leader.

If you would like to speak to the tutor, let us know and we will arrange for our experienced teacher to contact you.
