Kind Words From Our Learners
I have done a number of walks with various education centres and recently with Bromley adult education. The guide was excellent and was happy to even extend time a bit to keep answering all the questions. Bromley adult education was definately very good value and considerably cheaper than some of its rivals. I have booked another set of walks for this coming October.

The photography course with Philip at BAEC has been fantastic , learning how to use my Nikon camera settings , and able to help out taking shots for my family’s floristry business , my daughter and sister need to capture great photos of the flower arrangements , so its been great learning about the lighting and depth of field and composition , to help with social media campaigns and website shots. Also to capture great pictures of my granddaughter and family , to sky gazing and architecture , also grasping the software for perfecting the photos is most interesting , so i would defiantly encourage others to do the course as it covers so many angles and its fun being creative and learning all the different settings and modes to feel confident as an amateur photographer , highly recommended.

I just had to write to say thank you to you and your team, particularly Aurelija for such a wonderful course this term. You have all been so flexible with us to make it work for our school, it has been great working with you all. The model of adult sessions with a celebration at the end has worked amazingly and the children of the parents along with their friends came away from the session today on a high. They all loved it. Please pass on our thanks to all you team but especially Aurelija, she has really been amazing with the parents and so easy to work with. Great to hear that all of our adults have signed up to go to college. Thank you again,
Rene – ESOL Outreach
Thank you so much for such an enjoyable morning yesterday. It was my first visit to Tate Britain and your knowledge and enthusiasm made it so interesting and accessible. I shall definitely return.

I wanted to let you know how the Improvers Spanish course has helped me recently. I visited my parents’ apartment in Spain and when we arrived there was no electricity in the apartment. I had to go to the Iberdrola office that afternoon to explain the problem and get reconnected. I was able to explain the problem to the Iberdrola assistant in Spanish and eventually we reached a solution. I would not have had the confidence or the knowledge to do this without attending the Spanish course at BAEC. I felt very proud that I was able to speak to Iberdrola in Spanish, which I believe helped us to sort out the problem. We also covered shopping vocabulary in class before my trip and this also helped when we shopped for food at the start of the holiday. I am really enjoying the benefits of studying Spanish – not only has it given me the tools I need to speak Spanish in Spain, but also, being retired, it has enabled me to build a network of friends and colleagues, which is also important from a well-being perspective. I am looking forward to enrolling in the next level course for the upcoming autumn term onwards. Thank you for your help and guidance on the course. We have learned a lot in the two years since the beginners course.

I first learnt French over 70 years ago. Now I want to revive what I learnt then and find out more about present day France and how French is spoken nowadays. A recent visit to France meant that, due to Amy and her gentle yet concise teaching, I was able to use what I have learnt with her and could ask questions raised in daily life, such as “Is the shop now open? May I come in? How much is that please? Do you take credit cards?” Sounds simple, but most of us become tongue-tied without French lessons and conversation!

I have found that the course has put me in touch with people sharing the same day to day problems with their hearing. It has helped me to not feel quite so alone with not being able to hear well. It has taught me ways to counter some of the day to day problems associated with hearing loss. Certainly I feel more comfortable in socialising. Lip reading is quite hard to master but you do find that gradually you begin to understand words, and together with your hearing, it gives a more rounded experience. It is definitely a bonus, making life easier for deaf people, teaching them not afraid to speak up, when not fully understanding what is being said. Hopefully it also makes ‘hearing’people more comfortable conversing with the hard of hearing, rather than avoiding us, if we try to make them aware of our needs. The class would benefit many more people with hearing loss.
