Art Appreciation Course in Bromley

This course aims to help you grow personally and improve your overall well-being through the study of Art Appreciation with Life as we see it as a subtext. The course may include a gallery visit, or exploration of online collections.

Throughout the course, you’ll find engaging and enjoyable challenges that will help develop both personal and work-related skills. As you progress, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of creative and practical arts, learning how they reflect and shape our society over time. Additionally, you’ll explore how art contributes to the cultural richness of our community, both locally and globally.

Our goal is to encourage your self-expression and creativity, promoting mental sharpness, memory, attention, concentration, and social skills. You’ll have the opportunity to form new friendships and visit galleries together, if desired. Assessment will focus on the development of skills studied each week, as well as end-of-course presentations. We encourage self-reflection and documentation using personal accordion books or notebooks.

Throughout the course, you’ll delve into the world of Modern art from 1880 onwards, discussing and analysing artworks, artists, and movements. You’ll expand your art vocabulary, visit galleries/museums, and conduct online research. Group visit to galleries or museums are also part of the experience.

Drawing and Painting Course in Bromley

Explore a variety of subject matter through the use of various techniques and media (pencil, oils, watercolour, charcoal, acrylics, etc) whilst developing your observational skills. Each course may place an emphasis on a particular medium. The cost of materials is not included in the cost of the course.

Explore variety of water based media and different techniques to improve new or existing skills. If you are beginner, you will follow a programme set by your Tutor, if you are more experienced, you will improve your skills and extend your expertise.

Welcome to our Drawing and Painting Course. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist, this course is designed to help you develop and enhance your artistic skills through a variety of techniques and media.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Techniques and Media: Explore the use of lead pencil, graphite pencils, inks, gouache, watercolour, charcoal, acrylics, and more.

About Mania

I am an artist and adult art educator with an MA in Museology from the University of London, as well as a B.Ed. Honours and a Cert Ed. in Art and Education, also from the University of London. Throughout my career, I have served as the Head of Art and Design Departments at several secondary schools in London and have been an OFSTED team inspector for art. Since 2006, I have been involved in Adult Art Education in Croydon and Bromley.

I participated in the Abstract Expressionist show at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 2018 and the Seaside Gallery USA Miniature Show in 2012. My work has been exhibited at the Burnham & Maldon Art Trails in 2012 & 2013, the Slack Space Alchemy 3 in Colchester in 2013, and The Lovely Gallery in 2015 and 2016. More recently, I have taken part in many group exhibitions with the Bromley Art Society. I also host an annual Open Studio event at my studio, Atelier Montsale, which is now in its eleventh year.
