Jobs Searching Skills for ESOL Learners

A course specifically for ESOL learners to develop job searching and job application skills.

Throughout the course you will learn about:
Applying for Jobs and courses
Making career choices
Preparing for and taking part in an interview

Successful completion of the course leads to the following qualification:
Entry level Award in Entry to Employment E2.

Level 2 Award in Introduction to Counselling Skills

This qualification is intended for candidates who want to:

Learn basic counselling skills (listening and responding skills) in helping roles
Find out more about counselling (this qualification won’t teach them to be a counsellor, but may help them decide whether or not they want to train as one)
Improve professional and personal relationships
This qualification does not lead directly to an employed role. However, it could enhance an existing role or increase the general employability of those seeking to enter the job market.

Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills

This qualification is for:

Those starting the first level of training as a professional counsellor
Those who want to learn counselling skills in other professional or helping roles
Those who want to improve their professional and personal relationships as part of personal development
This qualification could lead to employment or increase employability for those whose role is to support others in e.g. health and social care work, teaching and learning, advocacy and mediation, support and project work, other helping roles.
It provides additional skills for those already in employment likely to lead to increased opportunities for promotion and advancement

Both courses are for candidates with no previous training or experience who are looking to start their counselling training journey. You may join at the Certificate level only if you have some prior knowledge or experience.

BAEC regularly runs short bespoke employability skills courses at the Kentwood and Poverest centres, and in community venues throughout the Borough of Bromley.

Let’s Talk Work in Bromley

Over 50 is a great age to choose a new career. Our online module is suitable for anyone considering their options or in the early stages of searching for new opportunities.

Skills Health Check – Identifying professional and transferable skills and experience
Branding – Making the most of marketable talents and skills
Self Marketing – Improving self-confidence and presentation skills
Networks and social media – Using professional networks to your advantage
Online etiquette – Coping with virtual interviews, online tasks, video conferencing

The course is taught ONLINE in two sessions of three and a half hours and is repeated throughout the year. You will need to attend both sessions to be able to request a BAEC attendance certificate.

Interview Skills for the terrified

Learn and practice techniques to reduce anxiety and prepare you for interview. Breathing techniques, calming exercises, body language, voice projection – we will explore various ways to avoid being overwhelmed and ensure a good performance. More information will follow shortly.

Supporting you into employment

BAEC works closely with local and national agencies to support people into employment.

Digital Drop In service

We can help with job search, interview techniques, getting online and completing forms in our Digital Drop In (DDI) service. We can also help accessing your Universal Credit account and completing online forms.

Everyone is welcome to use the DDI service. You do not need an appointment but we may operate a queuing system at busy times.

Bromley Job Centre Plus

BAEC are working in partnership with the Bromley Job Centre Plus to upskill unemployed residents.

If you are a client of Job Centre Plus (JCP) and have been advised to attend ESOL classes, you can phone 0208 659 7976 or register your interest here. A member of our team will call you to book an appointment.

You can also complete the form if you are interested in ESOL classes without a referral.
